Prepare for Storms in Life

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”   Luke 6:46-49

Storms Will Come – Get Ready

One thing we can all bank on is that in life we will face storms.  Your storm may take on a different form than your neighbors.

Your storm may take on a different form than mine.  The type of storm is not the question, though.  The question is, are you prepared for the storm and how do we prepare?

In the truck maintenance world they do routine maintenance called a ‘PM.’  It stands for preventative maintenance and it’s all about keeping drivers safe and equipment driving longer.  It’s simple tasks like oil changes, tire tread and pressure, air filters etc.  Hopefully you do regular ‘PMs’ on your own vehicles.

We need to do that in our faith in preparation for storms.  We’ve got to be ready to hold on, and that takes preventative maintenance.

Devour the Word of God

When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies.  – Jeremiah 15:16 NLT

When the evil one attacks and other people attempt to wreak havoc on your faith, make sure you are equipped with the word by constantly taking it in and applying it to your life.

Have you taken the words of scripture and put them into practice, or have you ignored them?  When you do read the Bible or listen to a message are you allowing the words to pass through your ears without changing you?  I sincerely hope not.

Stand firm on a strong foundation by putting the truths of scripture into practice in your life.  Get prepared.  Get ready today for tomorrows storm.

Our Beliefs

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9
