Why I Switched to Online Giving

While you are here at One Life you may often hear us mention about giving online. It’s a fairly new way of giving in the church world. At first, I wasn’t fond of online giving. I felt like it was taking the heart out of it. If I set up my giving online, I wouldn’t have to think about it anymore. It would just be automatic. Where is the heart in that?

Well, a few months ago I made the switch to giving online. It turns out that it didn’t take the heart out of my giving. I still am aware that every other Sunday 10% of my income is being withdrawn and given to the church. But instead of having a negative affect on my giving like I expected, it actually turned out to be a positive switch!

So why has recurring online giving been a good thing for me?

My giving is consistant. I no longer miss a week. I don’t forget to put my envelope in the giving box. Sometimes I would get busy talking to people and I would forget to drop my check in the giving box so it would get delayed a week. Sometimes I would forget to get cash out or forget my check at home, and again, my giving would be delayed. Now I know that every other Sunday that money is being given to the church. I don’t forget about it anymore.

I have always known that we are to give back to God what he has entrusted to us and I have tried to make it a priority but I always tended to forget. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to give, I just simply got distracted. But by connecting my checking account to the online giving, I can dictate which day of the week, how often, and how much I want to give. Then it just happens. If I want to give a little extra or if we are collecting a special offering there are simple ways to do that as well!

Want to make the switch?

Go to onelifepunxsy.org/give and follow the steps to set up recurring giving. It may take a few days to get your checking account connected. If you set up your recurring giving using your checking account as opposed to a debit card, there will be no additional cost to you or the church for the transactions. It will be just like writing a check just a bit more simple and easy!

Thank you for your continued generosity!

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9
