“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” James 4:7-8 NLT
Do you desire to come close to God? As you walk through your day do you have an itch to get to know God better? In these two verses James gives us three ways to grow closer to God.
One: Humble Yourself Before God
We must yield to his authority and his will, commit our life to him and his control, and be willing to follow him anywhere. Let him know you are available for his work. You will be amazed where he will take you and you will never regret following him.
Two: Resist The Devil
Don’t allow Satan to constantly entice and tempt you. Satan seeks to kill, steal and destroy. If we are able to resist him through calling on Christ for strength, he will flee from us and today’s battle is won. Pray away the temptation!
Three: Lead A Pure Life
Be cleansed from sin by the blood of Jesus Christ, and replace a desire to sin with a desire to experience God’s purity. The more we focus our heart on God the less we will desire sin.
God desires more than anything in this world to be in relationship with his people, you and me. As we draw close to him he will draw close to us.
Take time to apply these lessons to your daily life this week. Draw close to God every day.
